I Love Trips Like This: Baltimore with my Honey

Oh how I love trips, grandmas, surgeries, Jared, and food. Now, I know this isn’t a recipe, but I figured that you all should know about the most lovely day I had last Tuesday. It all starts with Jared having arm surgery with my uncle last month. Despite the fact that he was completely drugged all throughout Christmas and it’s festive occasions, it turned out to benefit me. Because of the surgery, Jared needed to go back to Baltimore for his follow up. I got to be the one to take him. Yes, fun…lots of 6 hour driving fun. In case you get injured by a reckless driver during your road trip, a car accident attorney Michigan can help you file a claim and negotiate for a fair compensation.

Luckily, due to the fact that I worked super duper hard last semester and managed to get a 4.0, my lovely Grandma Dreese decided to treat Jared and I to a lovely dinner at a new and exciting restaurant called Melting Pot. So, we decided to revolve the whole day around food.

First we stopped at a place called Lexington Market. Although I’m absolutely sure the food was wonderful, Jared and I became slightly….frightened, out of place, and a bit frightened by the part of town we were in. After slightly panicking, we high tailed it out of that $3 Baltimore parking garage as quickly as possible.

Next, we headed to Inner-Harbor, where we enjoyed the most dddeeleicious pre-melting pot lunch ever. We ate at Uno Chicago Grill. You might remember me drooling over the actually Chicago Grill in Chicago last May. Well, it was almost as good. I have that Chicago experience locked up in the back of my mind….never to be replaced by mere “franchise pizza.”

Anyway, Inner Harbor was beautiful, we just sat in massage chairs for 30 minutes and watched the water….lovely. Next we headed on our way to make our reservation for melting pot in Harrisburg. But, there was one more stop we needed to make before heading out.

YES! Charm City Cakes! It seemed so dark and mysterious on the outside, like they didn’t want us to know what was going on inside….hmmm

Located on Remington Drive, I almost peed my pants in excitement although I was slightly interested as to the neighborhood it was located…kind of shady. I was almost like a confidence builder. If that can work there, anything can work anyway! Yay for positivity!

That sign there….by appointment only. I was going to knock on the door and let them know that I had a Miss Cupcake Hall Pass into places like this..but I didn’t. Maybe they don’t know me. Dang, I should have broken down the door and shouted, “I have arrived!” I even drove around twice after taking lots of pictures to decide if I could accomplish this lofty goal. I didn’t…I guess you can’t change the past. Boo.

Luckily I still had much more to look forward to…

A pot. I’m telling you there has been no other pot that has looked so intriguing. At this restaurant, it’s really like an entertaining experience, and I’ll try to help you understand what happened.

First we ordered a cheese fondue. We decided to pick the spinach artichoke mozzarella fondue. I decided that Jared should get his recommended vegetables for the day. The waiter actually came out and made the fondue in front of us. He put in the fresh garlic, spinach, artichokes, and mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. It was amazing…he even gave us apples, veggies, and bread to dip it in. What a nice guy.

Oh and a little tip, apples are EXCELLENT dipped in cheese…just thought you should know.

Next they brought out the meat course. We ordered teriyaki sirloin, steak, fillet mignon, chicken, and pot stickers in a mojo caribbean boiling broth.

He also gave us veggies and potatoes which we were advised to “let float.”

Six sauces, are you kidding me? I was in love…there were several thousand flavor opportunities for this meal.

They gave us these nice metal plates to separate our meat, veggies, and sauces with. However, till the end of the night…there were splatters of broth boiling Jared’s hand off, sauce smeared on the sides of the table, burnt fingers from the pot, and plates covered in all kinds of half eaten wonderfulness. Hmmm, unfortunately that was entirely my fault.

I can’t really show you the rest of the table…that’s personal…messy…kind of embarassing. I think you get the idea. Let’s just say…I enjoyed it very very much.

Afterwards, being the people we are, we knew that we wanted Coldstone Creamery, so they packed up the dessert for us to eat at a later date. However, that later date was 10pm that evening. Our will power is immaculate.

It’s magnificent. Packaged perfectly and complete with directions, this chocolate fondue dessert (which would feed 5 people) was fabulous…and gone very quickly.

Top it with marshmallows and nuke it for a few seconds and it will be absolutely perfect for dipping.

Here is a close up of the delicious dipping materials that were provided with. Please keep in mind, however, that Jared and I were not limited to these materials alone. As the supply diminished…we made it work…rummaging through the cupboards for things that would be good with chocolate. Haha, actually we didn’t find anything not worth dipping.

And the ending, the most beautiful ending to a fabulous day. Mess tends to equal perfection. As you can see, I think that was most definitely accomplished.
